Week 67: A new incursion.

Russian Volunteer Corps troops preparing to cross the border into Belgorod.

Second incursion into Belgorod.

The Ukrainian affiliated Freedom of Russia Legion and Russian Volunteer Corps carried out another incursion into the Russian oblast of Belgorod from Kharkiv in Ukraine. This time they crossed further east along the border and took control of parts of the border village of Novaya Tavolzhanka.

Although the incursion is small it has lasted longer than the previous crossing. This time the incursion was preceded and then accompanied by significant shelling of Russian positions along the line as well as in the nearby town of Shebekino.

Drone strikes on Moscow

On Tuesday morning this week Ukraine carried out a wave of drone attacks on Moscow. While Russian air defences activated and managed to shoot down most of the drones, some were still able to get through and impacted buildings within the city. On top of the incursions this proves to further demonstrate Russia’s inability to properly secure its border and protect itself from attacks.

Flooding

Despite some good weather recently, there has been significant rainfall and flooding in the Zaporizhzhia area this week which likely prevented any large scale action by the Ukrainian Army. There has also been disruption to Russian supply lines in the Donbas as a result of the floods.
